Ian Whiting – Managing Director
With over 32 years of experience in the plant hire and construction equipment industry, I am proud to be the Managing Director and shareholder of Chepstow Construction Equipment (CCE Plant Sales).
Over the past 32 years, I have gained extensive experience in both plant hire and equipment sales, giving me a strong understanding of the industry and, most importantly, the needs of our customers.
Since CCE Plant Sales was established in 2013, the business has continued to grow into a trusted supplier of construction equipment, serving customers across South Wales, the South West and wider areas of the Country.
Alongside our Operations Director, Paul Best, and our experienced team, we are committed to building on that success and continuing to provide our customers with quality machinery, excellent service, and reliable support.
At the heart of everything we do are our core values of honesty, openness, integrity, and collaboration. We believe that strong relationships are built on trust, which is why we take an open and straightforward approach with both our customers and suppliers.
Through CCE Plant Sales, we offer a wide range of new and used construction equipment, including Kubota construction machinery, Magni telehandlers and a range of leading attachments and equipment brands.
Whether customers are looking to purchase equipment outright, part exchange an existing machine or explore finance options, we can work with them to find a solution that suits their business. Combined with our servicing, maintenance, and support packages, we aim to provide a complete solution throughout the life of their equipment.
With a knowledgeable and experienced team, two depots and a growing range of leading machinery brands, our focus remains simple: to supply the right equipment and provide the level of service and support our customers can rely on.
Paul Best – Operations Director
With over 32 years of experience in the plant and construction equipment industry, I bring a wealth of operational, commercial and industry knowledge to my role as Operations Director at CCE Plant Sales.
I entered the industry at the age of 26, beginning my career delivering machine parts before progressing into a role as a Hire Controller. From there, I moved into depot management and was subsequently given responsibility for overseeing a second depot, gaining valuable experience in both the operational and commercial sides of the business.
My career continued through several company acquisitions and buyouts, including 11 years with GE Capital, where I further developed my experience in business operations, commercial management and the construction equipment sector.
When GE Capital decided to exit the market, a fellow director and I took the opportunity to establish our own business, Chepstow Contract Rentals. This venture ultimately helped lay the foundations for what would become CCE Plant Sales, and I have played a key role in helping to build and develop the business into the successful company it is today.
As Operations Director, I am involved in many aspects of the day-to-day running of CCE. My role encompasses business operations, staffing and team management, customer relationships and key accounts, commercial and financial matters, logistics and the movement of equipment, as well as supporting the wider team and helping to solve the challenges that inevitably arise within a busy and growing business.
With a strong understanding of plant and machinery, combined with decades of hands on industry experience, I bring a practical and straight forward approach to my role. One of the aspects of the business I value most is the long standing relationships I have built throughout my career. Some of the customers I work with today are people I first dealt with when I entered the industry more than three decades ago, something I strongly believe demonstrates the importance of trust, consistency, and strong relationships.
I am also passionate about developing people and creating opportunities within the business. I believe in recognising talent and potential, and I am proud of the experience and ability already within the CCE team.
In 2025, CCE entered into an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), marking an exciting new chapter in the company’s development. Looking ahead, my ambition is to see this transition successfully completed and the business continue to grow as a strong, successful, and sustainable company, ultimately benefiting the employees who have played such an important role in building CCE.
Over the coming years, I hope to continue investing in our existing team, providing opportunities for talented individuals to develop and progress within the business, while also attracting new people who can bring additional skills, experience, and ideas to CCE.
Throughout this growth, maintaining the personal approach, industry knowledge and strong customer relationships that have been central to the company’s success will remain a key priority.
Ultimately, my vision is to see the next generation of the CCE team take the business forward, building on the foundations already established and creating a successful future for both the company and its employees.
